Where To Watch The Mexico-Netherlands Game

One of the great joys of watching the World Cup in New York is getting to watch each game with the die-hard fans of that team.

So in case you feel like venturing beyond the already-awesome collection of local places showing the games, we did a quick canvass of the neighborhood and found one place revving up already:

Taqueria Gonzalez (830 Coney Island Avenue around Dorchester Road) is an unpretentious, yummy, and affordable spot (check out this great Yelp review); more important, it has a big back room with a TV. The guy opening the place up apologized that it’s only a regular-sized TV, not a sports-bar sized one. But they’re making up for that with an abundance of Mexican flags and team spirit.

And if you’re looking for table service, Los Mariachis (805 Coney Island Avenue), right across Coney, confirms that it’s also going to be open for business and showing the game.Meanwhile, if this has you in the mood for a taco but you still don’t necessarily want to watch the game, Cinco de Mayor has a great brunch, and is one of the places featured on our list of great local Mexican spots.
