Barbes wants you to celebrate NYE Balkan style with Raya Brass Band. The group mixes musical styles of Eastern Europe with American dance, featuring odd meters, unusual scales and Balkan and Romany melodies played on reeds, trumpet, accordion, tuba and drums.

Chef Michael Roberts is celebrating the evening with a special Vermont lamb tasting menu, featuring five different lamb courses: Lamb Tartare with Orange Gremolata, Paillard of Lamb with Herb Sprout Macadamian Salad & Green Chili Sauce, Ragout with Pumpkin Mash, Lamb Chop with Sweet Liver & Onions & Braised Collards, and Bacon Truffles w/ Mint Jelly. Not for the faint of heart.

Pork Slope is doing it fun and casual– $60 all-you-can-eat-and-drink from 10:00pm to 1:00am. The open bar will serve all beers on tap and in cans, well liquors, and two signature cocktails.

For something a little quieter, stop by Rose Water, which promises “no funny hats or noisemakers, just good cheer, good service, and a great meal.” The restaurant is offering two seatings: Early ($85 per person, reservations between 5:45 and 7:15) which includes a five course Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings; and Late ($130 per person, reservations between 8:30 and 9:45) which includes a seven course Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. Tax and gratuity is not included.

Hip-hop party-maker The Rub is back with another NYE celebration, this year hosted by the Bell House. They haven’t released too much information on the event, other than the fact that DJs Eleven, Ayres, and Wonder will be spinning, and free champagne will come at midnight.

The private social club is opening up for what will probably be a very swanky New Year’s Eve celebration. Featuring live music by The Red Hook Ramblers from 9:00pm – 1:00am, the club promises dancing, a photo booth, lots of cocktails, and a champagne toast at midnight. $90 gets you access to the open bar from 9:00pm-2:00am; $150 adds dinner and two hours (7:00pm-2:00am). Formal, Cocktail, or Vintage attire requested.

Ring in the New Year with some bad renditions of pop songs at Union Hall’s NYE event, hosted by Karaoke Killed the Cat. Champagne and drink specials will be available throughout the night, plus earn one raffle ticket with entry for a free iPad. Drawing takes place at 3:00am, winner needs to be present to claim.

Don’t forget about the free festivities at Prospect Park! Music and refreshments will be at Grand Army Plaza starting at 11:00pm and leading up until the fireworks at midnight. The park’s only night race (unfortunately not free) will begin at 11:15pm. Registration for the race is $25 through December 23, $30 from December 23-30, and $40 on race day.
