Where to Donate Old Clothes

Where to Donate Old Clothes

People often ask where they can drop off used clothing in the neighborhood. Without any close thrift stores, many people depend on sidewalk bins (which, as we know, can become an overflow problem fairly quickly). A couple of bins in the area include:

This one at East 17th St and Cortelyou.

And this one on East 17th and Newkirk.

Isn’t there also one at the Hess Station at the corner of Coney Island Ave and 18th Ave? Any others you can think of?

That’s not your only option, though! Remember that you can drop off clothing and textiles every Sunday from 8am-1pm at the Cortelyou Greenmarket.

We’ve also heard St. Mary’s Church will pick up donations. Call 718-529-6070 for more info.

Finally, don’t forget that the pets looking for homes at Sean Casey Animal Rescue can make use of your old towels, sheets, pillow cases, and blankets (and newspapers, plastic bags, and cleaning products). Call the shelter at 718-436-5163 for more info.
