Where To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day In Park Slope
St Patrick's Day Window at Pork Slope

St. Patrick’s Day is on Monday, March 17, but you can get a head start on the celebration this weekend in the neighborhood. The annual parade will be marching through on Sunday, and there are plenty of places to eat, dance, and yes, drink, before and after. Here’s a look at some of the things going on in the area:

Guinness Celebration
When: Friday, March 14, 8pm
Where: Aperitivo, 279 5th Avenue
What: The beer is already on tap, and folks from Guinness will be on hand with swag, and you can grab drink specials and Irish treats.

Head Shaving For Cancer Research
When: Saturday, March 17, 2-6pm
Where: 200 Fifth, 200 5th Avenue
What: Get in jolly holiday mood by supporting a good cause — the bar is teaming up with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to raise money for cancer research. Get your head shaved in solidarity, make a donation, and get in on some St. Paddy’s raffles.

Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade
When: Sunday, March 16, 1pm
Where: The route starts at 15th St and Prospect Park West, travels down 15th St to 7th Ave, along 7th Ave to Garfield Pl, up Garfield Pl to PPW, and then back along that to 15th St.
What: The 39th annual parade celebrates all that is Irish, as bands, bag pipes, step dancers, and more take to the streets. Prior to the parade’s start, a re-dedication ceremony to 9/11 heroes and victims will take place in Bartel-Pritchard Square at 12:45pm.

Early Daytime Drinks
When: Monday, March 17, 12pm
Where: Pork Slope, 247 5th Avenue
What: The bar is celebrating all weekend long, but if you’re taking the day off on Monday, you can get an early start, as they’ll open at noon.

Wasabassco’s St Patrick’s Day For Sinners
When: Monday, March 17, 8pm (doors 7:30pm)
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: In the spirit of the holiday, it’s an all-redheads edition of their burlesque show, though they promise no other gimmicks (like green beer). Admission is $20 (available in advance), but redheads get in free.
