What’s Open, What’s Still Not Working, and How You Can Help

As Park Slope picks itself up after the Frankenstorm, one thing is clear: the neighborhood got off lightly compared to nearby communities. But the cleanup is going to take a while.

Subways are down and will remain down for the time being, but limited bus service will return at 5pm today, with fares waived for the time being.

Schools will be closed once again tomorrow.

The Park Slope Halloween Parade has been cancelled.

Many local businesses are open. Notice any? Let us know in the comments.

The Park Slope Food Coop reopened at 3:30pm. They’re calling it a soft opening. Not all services will return at once, so shopping will be limited. Those who missed their shift will have to make up one (not two). The Coop is welcoming anyone in the area who wants to pitch in (FTOP, makeup, or regularly scheduled shift). Phones are down at the Coop. Needless to say, tonight’s General Meeting is cancelled.

The good news: you can help. Park Slope’s two local shelters, at John Jay HS and the Armory, are in need of volunteers. Both need volunteers to do 8-hour shifts, but sorry, no children are allowed to volunteer.
