Hey, tomorrow is Independence Day! What are you getting up to? If you’re sticking around the neighborhood this weekend, here’s some information on what’s open, what’s closed, and what’s running on a different schedule.

Government Offices, Parking, and Sanitation (via nyc.gov)

Government offices, courts, and Department of Motor Vehicle offices are closed Thursday, July 4 for Independence Day. There is no mail delivery and all library branches are closed.
Alternate side parking is suspended. You do not have to pay the parking meter. No stopping, no standing, and no parking regulations are suspended, except where those regulations are in effect anytime or seven days a week.
There is no garbage or recycling collection. If Thursday is your garbage day, put your garbage out after 5 PM Thursday evening. If Thursday is your recycling day, wait until next week to put your recycling out.

Subways and Buses

While all trains will be running on a Saturday schedule on the 4th (remember that means no B), the MTA is adding extra trains today to help you get out of town–so go!

Libraries

All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library will be closed on Thursday.

Banks

  • Bank of America (515 Ocean Ave. on the corner of Church Ave.) will be closed.
  • Sovereign Bank (23 Newkirk Plaza on the corner of Foster) will be closed.
  • Chase Bank (1509 Foster Ave. between Marlborough and Newkirk Plaza) will be closed.
  • However, TD Bank (210 Prospect Park Southwest between Park Circle and Greenwood Ave.) will be open until 1 pm.

Food & Drink

C Town (597 E 16th St. between Newkirk and Foster Aves.) will be open 8am-6pm.The Flatbush Food Co-op (1415 Cortelyou Rd. between Rugby and Marlborough) will be open 6am-8pm.
  • Met Foods (1610 Cortelyou Rd. between E 16th and E 17th Sts.) will be open 8am-8pm.

Restaurants

  • Brooklyn Belly (915 Cortelyou Rd. between Coney Island Ave. and E 9th St.) will be closed.
Connecticut Muffin (1106 Cortelyou between Stratford and Westminster) will be open 7am-5pm.
  • Ox Cart (583 Argyle Rd. on the corner of Newkirk Ave.) will be closed July 4.
  • Stems (1118 Cortelyou Rd. between Stratford and Westminster) will be closed, but Sycamore will definitely be open.
  • The Farm on Adderley (1108 Cortelyou Rd. between Stratford and Westminster) will be open July 4 and 5, but closed for brunch on July 6 for a private event.
Wheated (905 Church Ave. between E 10th and CIA) will be closed for the holiday, reopening on Friday at 6.
