Weekend Crime Blotter: Sheepshead Bay Bicycle Thieves, A 99¢ Store Robber & More

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Police are looking for two teenage bicycle thieves who robbed a 13-year old of his wheels in Sheepshead Bay over the weekend.

Around 3:30 pm on Saturday, March 10, the two suspects approached the victim from behind, pushing him from the bicycle he was riding, said police. The two fled the scene with the bike, and while the young victim sustained a minor injury, he refused medical attention at the scene.

Police described the first individual 16-year old black male with a light complexion, slim build, curly black hair, brown eyes and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket with white stripes, black pants and black shoes. The second individual was described as a 16-year old black male with a light complexion and medium build, with short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers.

EAST NEW YORK – Police are looking for the man who unsuccessfully attempted to rob an East New York 99¢ store last weekend.

Just before 11:00 am on Friday, March 9, the suspect entered the Times Square 99¢ Store at 2220 Pitkin Avenue with a gun, said police. Threatening to kill the employees, the suspect demanded money, but was engaged in a struggle with one of the employees, and ultimately fled with no money. The employee sustained minor injuries to his back and legs, but refused medical attention, said police.

The suspect was described as a black man 40 to 50 years old, around 5’5″, with white facial hair. He was last seen wearing a red down vest over a black hooded sweatshirt, with black sunglasses. Video from the incident can be seen below:

CROWN HEIGHTS – Police are looking for two suspects in a robbery on the eastern edge of Crown Heights early last month.

At 6:15 pm on Friday, February 2, a 59-year old man was walking home when he was approached by two individuals in the area around 1693 Saint Johns Place, said police. One of the suspects displayed a firearm, demanding the victim’s property. The man handed over about $1000 cash and the individuals fled on foot.
