Mike Birbiglia: Working It Out
When: Monday, May 19, 7pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: We’re surprised to see this show hasn’t sold out yet — tickets to all his other recent performances seemed to get scooped up quickly — so if you’re interested in seeing him and you’re free, get on it!

Mind & Meditation Workshop
When: Tuesday, May 20, 6:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Stress and life in the big city often go hand in hand, but the Park Slope Library is at the ready with a one-hour meditation workshop aimed at helping neighbors “gain insight into the laws that govern the mind and emotions, learn breathing techniques that help de-stress, and reduce negative emotions while increasing energy, focus and efficiency.”
How much: Free.

Secret Science Club: It’s A Jungle In There
When: Tuesday, May 20, 8pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: Microbiologist Martin Blaser explores the human microbiome (the 1,000 or so microbial species that inhabit our noses, mouths, guts, and skin), the health benefits conferred by our inner ecosystem, the dangers of overusing antibiotics, fecal transplants, and more!

Info Commons Genealogy Group: Hispanic Genealogy Workshop
When: Wednesday, May 21, 7pm
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: This month’s class has a special focus on Latino/Hispanic genealogy research. Members of the Hispanic Genealogy Society will be available for questions and tips, though research assistance for all cultures and backgrounds will be available as well.

BID 4 BKLYN Launch Party
When: Wednesday, May 21, 7pm
Where: The Rock Shop, 249 4th Avenue
What: Join Brooklyn Community Services to launch BID 4 BKLYN, an online auction that will raise financial support and greater awareness for the 600,000 Brooklynites living in poverty. You’ll be able to place bids while enjoying live music, a DJ, and raffle prizes.
