From comedy to a documentary screening to learning about beekeeping, there’s a lot to do and learn in the neighborhood this week:

Night Train With Wyatt Cenac
When: Monday, November 11, 8pm (doors 7:30pm)
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street
What: Another amazing lineup at Wyatt Cenac‘s weekly comedy show, featuring Eugene Mirman, Jackie Kashian, John F. O’Donnell, Will Miles, and Dan Wilbur.

The Bee Course
When: Tuesday, January 14, 6:30pm
Where: Central Library, InfoCommons Lab, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Want to learn how to be an urban beekeeper, or have questions about the hive you already tend? This in-depth course from instructor James Fischer will show you all you need to know.
How much: Free!

Plow To Plate: Gasland Part II
When: Tuesday, January 14, 7pm
Where: Park Slope Food Coop, 782 Union Street
What: The monthly series — which is open to both members and non-members — features the documentary follow-up to Gasland, taking a deeper look at hydraulic fracturing, and what its impacts are to our environment.

Permaculture 101 With Natalia Gomez
When: Tuesday, January 14, 6pm
Where: CHiPS, 200 4th Avenue
What: A class that’s part of The Walk-In Cookbook’s new series, you’ll learn all about permaculture, a form of agriculture design philosophy built around three core tenets: care for the earth, care for the people, and return of surplus. Among several activities, Natalia will teach how to make “seed bombs” to spread wild flowers over the neighborhood.
How much: $25 in advance, kids under 12 free, proceeds go toward CHiPS

Community Celebrates Conjunctions: 61, A Menagerie
When: Wednesday, January 15, 7pm
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue
What: Check out the latest issue (theme: the wild and raucous animal kingdom) of Conjunctions, a literary magazine edited by Bradford Morrow and published by Bard College. Award-winning writers Susan Daitch, Paul Lisicky, and James Morrow will be on hand to read from their work.

Secret Science Club: MIT’s Max Tegmark
When: Wednesday, January 15, 8pm (doors 7:30pm)
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: The physicist and author will explain why he doesn’t think the universe is just described by math, but that the universe is math. Think on that while you enjoy calculated cocktails and exponential grooves.
