EAST NEW YORK – A violent robbery at the L train station on Livonia Ave in East New York has cops on the hunt for a group of suspects that stabbed and beat a man as they robbed him earlier this month.

The incident took place on Monday, April 16, just before 5:00 pm, said police. The 23-year old male victim got off the northbound L train and was walking along the platform when four men began to approach him—and two of them were carrying knives.

The victim ran for the exit, but police said as he reached the turnstiles, the crew caught up to him, and one of the suspects stabbed him in the back. Still, the victim made it outside, where the suspects caught up to him again, pulling the hood of his sweatshirt over his head while they punched, kicked and struck the victim with an umbrella. Police said the victim was stabbed three more times during the assault.

After all that, the suspects stole the victim’s cell phone and ran off down Van Sinderen Avenue, said police. The victim, who suffered lacerations and puncture wounds to his back and torso from the stabbing, was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was treated and released.
