Wednesday Crime Blotter: Shot in the Back in Williamsburg, Jumped in a Gravesend Lobby & More

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for the suspect who crept up and shot a man in the back earlier this week.

The sneak attack came in the early hours of Monday, April 9, around 1:45 am. The suspect approached his 18-year old victim in the area near Humboldt Street and Montrose Avenue, shooting him one time in the lower back, police said.

Luckily, the victim survived the cowardly attack, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. Surveillance video of the shooting can be seen below:

BROWNSVILLE – Police arrested NYCHA Groundskeeper Nasean Joseph on Monday, April 9, charging him with attempted murder and assault in the Wednesday, March 28 shooting of Emmanuel Turner.

That shooting took place around 5:30 pm in the Bay View Houses, when Turner visited Joseph’s Canarsie apartment. An argument ensued, leading to Joseph shooting Turner once in the stomach. Turner was taken to Brookdale Hospital and survived the incident.

GRAVESEND – After a robbery in Gravesend last month, police are on the lookout for three individuals that assaulted and robbed a 19-year old man in the lobby of his apartment.

The incident took place on Sunday, March 18, around 8:00 pm, said police. Three suspects followed the victim into the lobby of his apartment near West 11th and Avenue X, where they attacked him. After punching the victim, the suspects stole his backpack and jacket, then fled in an SUV.

Despite a bruised face and a cut lip, the victim refused medical attention at the scene, said police. Surveillance photos of the attackers can be seen below:
