Arts, Fine
We’ve separated our “Art” camps into “Fine Arts” and “Performing Arts” to help you in your search for the perfect camp.

Our Fine Arts camps are taught, for the most part, by professional artists. Campers will have the opportunity to explore the best fine art in the history of the world. Young artists will tour the Met, MoMA, Brooklyn Museum of art as well as actual studios. Read on to find the fine art camp that will suit your young artist best.

Alamander

Campers enjoy learning fine arts while they explore gems of New York City–cultural and art related. They’ll rub shoulders with South of the Navy Yard Artists and volunteer to walk dogs with Sean Casey.

Barking Cat Studio

This is a traditional arts and crafts camp using art store supplies and found objects. Karen takes young campers to cultural institutions throughout the city for inspiration. Each week artists explore a different theme including color and multi media. Karen also teaches weekly art classes which are still available.

Brooklyn Design Lab

These studios run morning and afternoon sessions and are ideal for focusing on a specific fine arts talent. Artist work with professional grade material to create masterpieces out of clay or wood. They learn the art of bookmaking and printmaking.

Camp Half-Blood

Camp Half-Blood is a different kind of performing arts camp. Demi-gods study archery, sword fighting, foraging and other skills needed to master their weekly quests. Greek myth is the overriding theme.

Camp reunion is this upcoming Sunday, February 9th. An early bird discount is also currently available. In addition to summer camps, Shorefront Y also hosts youth sports.

Language

Full immersion is the way to learn a language. Native English speakers and native Spanish speakers explore traditional camp activities like cooking and gardening. But all communication will be done in Spanish. Spanish-as-a-2nd-language learners will become fluent in the language while native speakers will develop a more nuanced appreciation for their native tongue. Half-day and half-week camps are also available.

Packer Summer Camp

Campers are required to register for a 2-week minimum (with the exception of the first session.) Campers also bring their own lunches, but they have access to St. Francis College’s Olympic size pool and two large gyms. Its not all sports; campers also put on a talent show.

Poly Prep Country Day School

Walking onto Poly Prep’s 25 acre, tree filled campus is like being transported out of Brooklyn and into a utopia. Poly Prep runs 11 specialty camps including baseball, lacrosse, and soccer.

Trail Blazers

Unplug from the city! Trail Blazers helps young Brooklynites find moments of tranquility in our urban environment. At the end of the 6-week program, campers are invited on a parent/camper retreat to the Trail Blazer’s campground in New Jersey.
