Upcoming Cultural & Arts Events With The Singing Winds

Local storytelling collaborative The Singing Winds has two exciting events coming up in the neighborhood:

On Friday, May 2, the group will perform in Rhythms of Boishakh: A Bengali New Year Celebration, presented by the Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts. Neighbors are invited to enjoy song and dance at PS 230 (1 Albemarle Road on the corner of Dahill Road, in the auditorium) at 7pm. A $2 donation is requested.

On Sunday, May 4, the group will be presenting The Day of The Child Festival with activities at Albemarle Playground (just behind PS 230). The event, which celebrates cultural traditions from Bangladesh and Mexico, will feature mask making, piñatas, and other crafts at 11am, storytelling and dance at 11:30am, and a Boishakhi Parade to celebrate the Bengali New Year at 1pm. All activities are free.
