A gunman opened fire on a large crowd that had gathered around a fight that broke out on Waverly Avenue last night, wounding two 17-year-old girls and 26-year-old man, police reported.

One of the girls was shot in the right thigh and left foot in the 10 p.m. shooting in front of 185 Waverly Avenue. The other was shot once in the torso. The man was wounded in the knee, police said.

All three were taken to Kings County Hospital, where they were reported in stable condition.

The victims’ names have not been released. None of them lived within the 88th Precinct, Community Affairs Officer Varlos Brathewaite said.

Police recovered eight .38 caliber shell casings at the scene.

The shooting took place two blocks from the Pratt Institute and a block away from Saint Joseph’s College. Police could not say if the girls attended either college.

Police have not determined a motive for the fight or the shooting.
