Congratulations are in order for the track team at Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School (500 19th Street, between Prospect Park West and 10th Avenue). Thanks to their partnership with the Prospect Park Track Club at last year’s Turkey Trot, a popular 5-mile Thanksgiving race in Prospect Park, the school received a check this week for $12,500.

The teenage athletes were responsible for a number of behind-the-scenes elements at the race, including water distribution, making sure the track remained clear, and even awarding medals at the end of the race.

“This was our 11th Turkey Trot in partnership with Bishop Ford,” explained Tom Meany, president of the Prospect Park Track Club, in a press release. “We have been growing upon each year’s success. This past year was by far our best, and we could not hold this event without the partnership of Bishop Ford.”

The money will go directly to the track program at Bishop Ford, funding the team’s uniforms, meets, and transportation.
