Tomorrow: Environmentally-Minded Vollies Needed For Coastal Cleanup And It’s My Park Day

The Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium Education Department and Partnerships for Parks’ Catalyst Program invite you to participate as they conduct a shoreline survey of various types of marine debris, work to keep our local beach free of debris by picking up trash and contribute to a healthy ocean that both people and wildlife can benefit from.

The event will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, September 27, at the beach at Kaiser Park, near West 33rd Street and Bayview Avenue. The event is recommended for ages six and up. An adult must accompany children between the ages six and 14 at all times.

All participants must complete and sign a photo release form and a volunteer waiver upon checking in for this event. Both of these types of forms can be found on the NYA Education webpage at www.nyaquarium.com/nyaeducation. Youth ages six to 17 must have a parent or guardian sign the volunteer waiver on their behalf.

For your safety: wear work gloves (consider bringing your own), closed-toed shoes, sun screen, and a sun hat. Please bring water to keep you hydrated. During the cleanup event, do not pick up or collect needles for any reason — notify the site leader who will collect it safely.
