Ticket Alert! Admired Morbid Anatomy Museum Gala Afterparty To Feature Parker Posey And Erasure’s Vince Clarke

On Tuesday, April 12 at 9pm, the Morbid Anatomy Museum will be hosting their Gala Afterparty at The Bell House, 149 7th Street (near 2nd Avenue).
The party will be chaired by actress Parker Posey, and Erasure fans will be very excited by the musical guests. DJ sets include Erasure’s music Vince Clarke, DJ Eva A, and Semiotics of 80s Goth Subculture lecturer Andi Harriman.
And in the spirit of the museum’s ability to weave irreverence and darkness together, you’ll have a chance to let a millipede crawl on your face at Aaron Rodriguez’s amazing Insect Petting Zoo, and tarot and palm readings will be offered by The Tarot Society.
When we spoke with Creative Director Joanna Ebenstein last June after the museum celebrated its one-year anniversary, she told us, “I think people are hungry for things on an intimate scale, and I think this is one of the things people really respond to at our museum, where objects can be touched, and people can spend real time with them up close. We attract a community that really loves that.”
However Ebenstein is always looking forward:
“The next year at Morbid Anatomy will be very exciting! We have new partnerships with Jstor, Science Friday, Atlas Obscra and CUNY; we should be getting taped lectures on our YouTube channel soon; and we have exciting new exhibitions at our own space and beyond, on Governor’s Island, where we will curate a show of Richard Harris’ collection of death related artworks and artifacts.”
The museum’s intriguing “House of Wax” exhibit is a cerebral and at times startling experience that’s currently on view.
And the regular events at the museum include the history of sword swallowing, grey fox head taxidermy class, and the defining cinematic expressionist The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with a live music score. And prices are always extremely fair.
