We’re kicking off Throwback Thursday at The Nabe with this photograph by Adrian Vanderveer Martense taken after the Great Blizzard of 1888, when more than 40 inches of snow blanketed New York City and parts of the East Coast on March 12.

We’ve had more than our share of snow this winter, with more than 50 inches so far, but at least we now have snow plows instead of horse-drawn carriages.

Do you have old photographs of the neighborhood you’d like to share? Send them to us at  TheNabe@TheNabe.me or tweet us at @TheNabeCUNY.
