Mad Science of New York: Space Travel

Where: Bedford Library, 496 Franklin Avenue
What: See the principles of propulsion at work in a real rocket launch, and build your very own Shuttle Copter to fly the skies!
School Break Science
When: Wednesday, December 30, 3pm
Where: Cortelyou Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road, Ditmas Park
What: Young scientists age 5 and up are invited to participate in fun, engaging, hands-on workshops that allow them to explore various STEM topics.

Book Adventures : So Cozy by Lerryn Korda
When: Wednesday, December 30, 3:30pm
Where: Windsor Terrace Library, 160 East 5th Street
What: Transport yourself to different worlds with books and factual insights. This is a Read Aloud program followed by an activity, inspired by arts or crafts. For ages 5 to 12.

Kids Create: Coloring Cool Designs
When: Wednesday, December 30, 4pm
Where: Clinton Hill LIbrary, 380 Washington Avenue
What: Coloring is a great post-holiday stress buster. Everyone is doing it these days! We’ll provide the coloring sheets and pencils – and even a reader to entertain you with stories while you color.
Sing Along with Frank from Rolie Polie Guacamole!
When: Wednesday, December 30, 4pm
Where: Lark Cafe, 1007 Church Avenue, Ditmas Park
What: Join Frank from this amazing kindie rock duo for some amazing tunes!

Build With LEGOS
When: Thursday, December 31, 11am
Where: Clinton Hill LIbrary, 380 Washington Avenue
What: School is out, so come to the library and see how many cool LEGO creations you and your friends can build in an hour!
Fireworks In Prospect Park
When: Thursday, December 31, 11pm/fireworks at midnight
Where: Grand Army Plaza
What: If you’re sticking close to home this New Year’s Eve, Prospect Park is the place to be as the clock inches toward 2016. Starting at 11pm, there will be music and hot chocolate, but the real show starts at midnight, when the sky will come alive with one of the city’s best fireworks displays. Set up camp anywhere from 9th Street to Grand Army on Prospect Park West, or inside the park along West Drive to see the show.

Storytime: Winter Wonderland
When: Saturday, January 2, 11am
Where: Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton Street
What: Read snowdrifts of picture books together, including Ezra Jack Keats’ classic A Snowy Day, Uri Shulavitz’s city story Snow, and Over and Under the Snow illustrated by our neighbor Christopher Silas Neal, and more. And after the readings, we’ll make a special snowflake craft together! Ages 3 to 8.

Science Kits: Explaining Science and Math
When: Saturday, January 2, 11am
Where: Sunset Park Library, 5108 4th Avenue
What: Young children learn about science and math through working creatively with connecting straws and other materials. Ages 1 to 5.

Early Morning Bird Walk
When: Sunday, January 3, 10am
Where: Meet at the Audubon Center in Prospect Park
What: Join the Brooklyn Bird Club for a walk around the park to see the beautiful plumage and fascinating behavior of wintering ducks. Please note that the tour leaves promptly at 10am.
