This Weekend’s Open House Picks

400 E 17th St, Apt 700, Via Corcoran

In the market for a new place to call home? Here are a few spots in the area that you can check out during open houses this weekend:

CO-OPS

• There were a number of units available in 1818 Newkirk for a while, which either sold or came off the market. If anyone’s moved in there, maybe you can comment on how you like the building? Because another unit, 1818 Newkirk #5M, is currently available. It’s a 2-bed, 1-bath listed by Brooklyn Hearth for $389,000 with a $766.80 maintenance fee. You’ll have great views from that fifth floor.
Open house: Sunday, January 20, 1-2:30pm

• Another building with a lot of recent sales is 400 E 17th St, which one neighbor once attributed to “the fact that many of us moved into the building around 5 years ago without children. Now, many of us have families and are looking for more space.” One of the spaces now available in 400 E 17th is Apt 700 (pictured above), a 1-bed, 1-bath listed by Corcoran for $239,000 with a fairly substantial $748 maintenance fee.
Open house: Sunday, January 20, 3:30-4:30pm

• But possibly the most curious building in the neighborhood is 811 Cortelyou. I’m sure prospective buyers would love to hear from anyone who lives or has lived there, because it seems that a lot of units have been up for sale recently. 811 Cortelyou #5L is a 1-bed, 1-bath listed by Abacus $199,000 with a $612 maintenance fee. It’s one of the few dog-friendly co-ops in the area.
Open house: Sunday, January 20, 12-1:30pm

HOUSES

• Some houses in our area have been scooped off the market in under a couple of weeks recently, but not 31 DeKoven Court, which is hosting another open house this weekend. It’s got some beautiful original details and could potentially have income as a bed and breakfast, but it’s close to the subway tracks, which could make the asking price of $1,459,000, as listed by Betancourt, seem a bit high.
Open house: Sunday, January 20, 1-3pm

• On the market now for several months, the single-family semi-attached home at 380 Webster Ave has dropped in price by $60,000 since August, now listed for $669,000 by Weichert. The non-attached side abuts a used car lot that also does auto repairs. But it’s one of the best deals you’ll find in the area at the moment.
Open house: Sunday, January 20, 3-5pm
