Some fun things to do in the Ditmas Park ares this weekend, plus one event for those looking to check out a local artist’s work on display outside the neighborhood.

Perform at an Open Mic Night: Every Thursday, musicians, writers, comedians, and more are welcome at 773 Lounge to sign up starting at 8:30pm, and the show starts at 9pm. If you’re not a performer, just grab a drink and have a listen.

Listen to jazz at the Intuit Concert Series at Lark, 8pm.
Drink to vintage tunes spun by NYCTrust at Sycamore, 10pm.

Hear Improvised Electronica That Utilises the Performance Space: William Flynn has played with bands such as St. Vincent, The Prigs, and Dance Fight. He’ll be at Sycamore with his solo project Sleepers Work (pictured above), which just may be the thing for a cold winter’s night – soothing, energetic at times, and always unexpected. Show starts at 9pm with Land of Leland.

Meet fellow new parents at Lark, 1pm.
See local sculptor Eric Pesso’s work at a show opening in Bushwick, 7pm.
Local pianist Alex Levin and his trio play at Purple Yam, 10:30pm.

Learn CPR and Maybe Save a Life: For new parents, soon-to-be parents, caregivers, you will learn what to do if someone stops breathing, or is choking, in this non-certification class at Lark at 4pm. Our mistake, it’s next Saturday! Contact kari@larkcafe.com to sign up.

Learn to knit in a series starting at Brooklyn ARTery, 10am. Rescheduled, will start Saturday, January 26.
Kids can boogie down at a free dance program at the Cortelyou Library, 10:30am.

Donate Newspapers and More: Sean Casey Animal Rescue goes through a lot of supplies, as you can imagine. They are currently in urgent need of newspapers (just plain paper, nothing glossy), but they can also use plastic bags, cleaning supplies, monetary donations, and volunteers. Drop off supplies any day at 153 East 3 St, 11am-7pm.

Get the kids into language at a French-immersion playgroup at Lark, 3pm.
Join the music at Underground Works, the Sycamore jazz series, at 8pm.
