Haunted Halloween Walk and Fairy Tale Forest
When: Monday, October 31 from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Owl’s Head Park at 67th Street and Colonial Road
What: Senator Golden along with the Southwest Brooklyn Parks Task Force and the Community Emergency Response Team present the Haunted Halloween Walk and Fairy Tale Forest. Attractions include rides, a food court, face painting, sand art and the FDNY Smokehouse. There will also be tours of the Haunted Walk and Fairy Tale Forest and a costume contest.

Coney Island Creek illegal dumping meeting
When: Tuesday, November 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Liberation Diploma Plus High School at 2865 West 19th Street
What: An Environmental and Sanitation meeting to discuss illegal dumping in the Coney Island Creek. There will be guest speakers from the DEC and DEP.

Citizens Preparedness
When: Tuesday, November 1 at 7 p.m.
Where: The Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare at 1740 86th Street
What: A two hour training program to prepare residents on what to do in case of a disaster. “Go bags” will be given to attendees.

Health Planning Meeting

What: Sponsored by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island

Parking spot creation reduction for development
When: Thursday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: The Community Board 13 office at 1201 Surf Avenue
What: Review of an application for a special permit pursuant to section 73-44 of the Zoning Resolution to reduce the accessory parking requirements for Use Group 4a. In other words, a major development is seeking permission to create fewer parking spots than currently required of them.
How much: FREE

It’s My Park
When: Thursday, November 3 from 9 a.m. to noon
Where: Mermaid Avenue Street Trees
What: This It’s My Park season, volunteer with Coney Island Beautification Project to weed, compost, plant daffodil bulbs, and mulch street tree beds on Mermaid Avenue between West 24th Street and West 37th Street.
