The Open Corner: July #3

The Open Corner: July #3

Think your electric bill is high in the summer when you’re blasting the A/C? It’s nothing compared to Liz’s friend Noa.

July Artist: Liz Starin

My friend Noa is having trouble with her electricity bill, which comes to nearly $200 a month.

She lives on the first floor of a house near Cortelyou. What could she be doing in there?!?

Cultivating a new strain of jungle plant?

Maintaining a walk-in fridge for her backyard dairy farm?

No, nothing wilder than listening to her favorite albums.

Noa even reads by candlelight to save electricity.

So far, Con Ed has not been able to solve the mystery.

Nor have her landlords, who live upstairs and have had the same problem…for years.
