We’re pretty lucky to have not one, but two year-round markets where farmers and other food producers bring their items directly to us, so get out and show your appreciation this winter if you can!

One way the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket reciprocates that appreciation with with its Winter Warriors program, which starts up on Saturday, January 11. The contest is city-wide, so shoppers can check in at any participating market (besides Union Square, which is running its own contest). Stop by the information tent to receive a Winter Warrior card, and then check in each day you visit. At the 10th check-in, you can choose from a variety of coupons from the farmers as your prize. The contest runs through March 31, and coupons are valid through April 13.

Then at the Park Slope Farmers Market on Sunday, January 12, day vendor Suleiman Goods will be on hand with freshly baked Syrian-style pita bread with zatar spices, which Serious Eats said “has a rich flavor and oily but not too heavy texture.” Match it with some baba ganoush from Eden Fresh, and you’ve got a pretty great snack for game day.

The GAP Greenmarket runs Saturdays from 8am-4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10am-4pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave.
