Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

Despite a sudden mid-afternoon shower, we saw many of you enjoying the sunshine yesterday. We’re also starting off sunny today, but you can expect clouds and occasional showers this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. What do you do on rainy summer afternoons, locals?

If you’re out today, take pictures and upload them to The Nabe’s Flickr group!

  • The New York City Council approved a 32-story development next to the Brooklyn Academy of Music after the city agreed to increase the number of affordable housing units in near-by sites also being developed, The New York Daily News reported. The $135 million tower is expected to include cinema space for BAM, the Pacific Street public library and rehearsal space for local cultural groups, as well as 60 units of affordable housing. City Council Member Letitia James had initially supported the plan, but later withheld her approval until the city agreed to more affordable housing in the future.
  • If you’re a Neil Gaiman fan, you’re in luck! Greenlight Bookstore tweeted yesterday that there are still $45 and $55 tickets available for his reading and book signing 7 p.m. tonight at BAM. Gaiman will read from “The Ocean at the End of the Lane,” his first adult novel in eight years. Don’t worry about picking the book up early so you can follow along, as hardcover versions will be handed out to each ticket holder.
