The BITE: Sheepshead, formerly A Taste of Sheepshead Bay, was a tremendous success on Thursday, May 28, with more than 300 neighbors coming down to the Baron De Kalb Knights of Columbus, dining on dozens of dishes from local restaurants, cafes, markets and bakeries.

There were Georgian shoti breads from Tone Cafe and Restaurant Tbilisi, scrumptious sweets from T&D Bakery, Jomart Chocolates and Masal Cafe, hot Italian fare from il Fornetto, chilled Peruvian ceviche from Coney Island Taste, crabcakes from Clemente’s Maryland Crab House, sliced lamb gyro from Taci’s Beyti and, oh, so, so much more.

If you missed it, you truly missed the best event of the season. But that’s okay, because all of these restaurants are local and can be tasted all year long.

Here’s the full list of restaurants that attended. They support our community, so make sure you support them in return:

It was a different atmosphere than previous years, with beautifully dressed cocktail tables spread throughout the room, thanks to event planner Meg Ambroise of Bee & Trumpet, and the venue’s jaw-dropping pier open to everybody. Diners mingled with new and old friends, entertained by smooth jazz tunes from the Dave Anderson Trio.

Sheepshead Bites’ awesome colleagues from around Corner Media Group greeted our attendees, be it our publisher Liena Zagare, our managing editor Mary Bakija, or one of the editors of our sister sites, Rachel Silberstein, Anna Gustafson and Heather Chin and and Dina Rabiner our Director of Sales and Marketing who worked tirelessly with all the restaurants as well as orchestrating the promotion of The BITE. Sponsors including Coney Island Hospital, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and Yelp doled out helpful information.

Once inside, the venue was electric, buzzing all night with excitement. It’s hard to say who the standout vendors were this year, as all were amazing and upped their game. This year also saw the largest group of first-time vendors than we’ve had in the past two years, bringing all new flavors for you to try. Which was your favorite?

Thanks again for joining us for dinner, and big thanks to our main sponsors – Coney Island Hospital and Cherry Hill Gourmet Market – as well as to our hosts, the Baron De Kalb Knights of Columbus (3000 Emmons Avenue). Find out more about our sponsors and restaurant participants here.

We hope to see you next year!
