Teens Invited To Keep It Real Tomorrow With Food Bank For NYC’s Change One Thing Truck

Making healthy food choices isn’t always as easy as we’d like it to be–or is it? That’s the question Food Bank for New York City is taking on this summer as they make stops around the five boroughs in their Change One Thing truck. They’ll even be in our neighborhood tomorrow (Wednesday, August 6) from 10am-1pm in front of Teen Challenge Inc. (444 Clinton Avenue between Greene and Gates Avenues).

The Change One Thing campaign aims to teach teens that eating healthy doesn’t mean buying expensive food or never indulging–all it takes to start is swapping out something every day, like a slice of pizza for an orange or a soda for a glass of water. Participants in Food Bank’s EATWISE (Educated and Aware Teens Who Inspire Smart Eating) program are on hand for the truckside events, which feature free games and activities, healthy snacks and recipe books, and other prizes. That guy up there? He’s got a pedometer.

You can learn more about the campaign and request more local Change One Thing truck visits, check out the truck’s schedule for the rest of the summer, and keep up with the EATWISE blog–and if you stop by the event tomorrow, be sure to tag tweets, photos, and more with #ChangeOneThing.
