A Flatbush teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted rape on New Years Day in Ditmas Park.

Cops say that a Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest of 18-year-old Marck Beaubrun for following a woman into the elevator of her building on Ditmas Avenue, assaulting her, and trying to rip off her pants. This incident occurred on Sunday, January 1 at 10:30pm and cops announced the arrest last night, January 5.

Beaubrun, the man who appears in NYPD surveillance footage, is being charged with rape, robbery, burglary, sex abuse, and assault. Attempted rape falls under the same penal code as rape, since there is no separate category for an attempt, said cops.

This isn’t the first time a Crimestoppers tip led to an arrest nearby. In April 2016, a man accused of five assaults on elderly women in Park Slope and Kensington was caught due to a tip.

In June 2016, two suspects were caught in connection with an attempted rape near the Parade Grounds that occurred a month earlier; but as of November, five attempted rape cases in the Prospect Park & Park Slope areas remain unsolved.
