The Fox & The Crepes, the new espresso bar and creperie at 1233 Prospect Avenue opened officially this week and we stopped by to get a taste.

The sunny space was warm and welcoming and several people were sitting at the window working on laptops. On a nice late summer day, sit outside in the cute and quiet patio.

The new shop, which is located just steps from the Fort Hamilton Parkway subway stop, offers a decent menu of both sweet and savory crepes, all under $10, as well as coffee drinks and ice cream.

If you stop by in the morning looking for breakfast, try The Ft. Hamilton crepe, stuffed with ham, gruyere cheese, and a fried egg for $8. It’s a great twist on a typical breakfast sandwich, though it could use the added flavor of one of the sauces offered on some of the other menu items.

Another great savory option is The Reeve, also $8, which includes pork, swiss cheese, pickles, ham, and cumin-lime mustard. This crepe was the highlight for us, the pickles and mustard add a great tang to the otherwise basic ham sandwich.

The Fox & The Crepes sweet options are also delicious. The Kermit ($6) oozes with peanut buttercream and grape jelly and is perfect for satisfying your inner child.

The Terrace ($7), which is stuffed with cinnamon apples and caramel sauce, is a little bit hard to maneuver and the caramel sauce tends to seep to the bottom, but the last few bits are delectable.

Owner Jeremiah Fox says they’ve had a good response so far and that he plans to stay open as late as people want to come in for crepes.

Have you tried it yet? What do you think?

The Fox & The Crepes is located at 1233 Prospect Avenue between Reeve Place and Vanderbilt Street in Windsor Terrace and is open from 7am to 5pm daily.
