Take Advantage Of Services At A Local Housing Resource Fair May 3

Whether you’re a homeowner or renter, housing in New York City is rough on a lot of us. 56% of readers said in a recent poll that more than a third of their income was dedicated to housing costs, neighbors are downright disgusted with even admittedly unsurprising prices of recent rentals, and some are even facing adversity like the alleged racial discrimination and harassment the Flatbush Tenant Coalition is currently helping fellow Brooklynites fight in court.

Luckily for locals, the Flatbush Development Corporation and Neighborhood Housing Services are hosting a Housing Resource fair this Saturday, May 3, at the Brooklyn College Student Center (1 Campus Road on the corner of E 27th Street, second floor) from 10am-3pm. Owners and renters can attend the free event for assistance with:

  • Foreclosure intervention counseling
  • Legal mortgage and housing advice
  • Immigration information and assistance
  • Renter questions
  • Homebuying seminars
  • Homeowner insurance
  • Housing counseling for tenants in courts or pending eviction
  • Mortgage pre-qualification
  • Modifications from banks and lenders
  • Water bill payment plans
  • Tenant repair and relocation options
  • A “right to repair” seminar for tenants
