Suspects In Citywide Armed Robbery Spree Hit Kings Highway Liquor Store, Assault Owner

Two men that cops say are behind a string of eight armed robberies across New York City over the past month hit Kings Highway’s Liquor Depot on Friday, assaulting the business’ owner.

The men entered the store at 824 Kings Highway at approximately 4:23pm. They drew guns on the owner and demanded cash from the register. The store owner refused, kicking off a tussle with the men that left him with a head injury and bruising around his body. He was treated at Maimonides Hospital.

The suspects are described as adult black men in their mid to late 30s, approximately 6′ tall.

The seven other incidents took place around Brooklyn, Bronx and Manhattan, in which they allegedly stole thousands of dollars in cash, valuables and narcotics, and fired at least one shot.

The other robberies happened as follows, according to police:

  • Thursday, April 4 at 2:27pm – The two suspects, alongside a third man, entered Fordham Family Pharmacy at 202 West Fordham Road in the Bronx, displayed a black firearm and demanded property. They took Oxycodone, Perocet, lotto tickets and $400 cash.
  • Tuesday, April 14 at 8:23pm – Two of the suspects entered Cohen’s Fashion Optical at 278 7th Avenue in Brooklyn. They flashed guns and demanded money, taking $1,500 in cash and 15 pairs of designer eyeglass frames worth approximately $6,000.
  • The same day, at 8:45pm, the men entered Windsor Wine Merchants at 210 Prospect Park West, displayed guns and demanded money. They fled with $1,450.
  • Thursday, April 16, at 4:05pm – Two of the men entered MBA Wireless at 1171 Second Avenue in Manhattan, both wearing masks. They showed a gun and fled the location with $250 taken from the register.

  • The same day, at 7:45pm, the men robbed Cure Pharmacy at 1025A Third Avenue. Again wearing masks, they flashed their guns and demanded money and oxycodone. When the employees took too long to comply, one shouted “Do you think I’m playing?” and fired his gun into a wall. They fled with drugs and approximately $300.
  • Friday, April 24, at 2:50pm – The two went into a pharmacy at 1013 Broadway, showed their guns, demanded money and unsuccessfully attempted to open a safe. They took $100 from the register, as well as more drugs.
  • The same day, at 6:33pm, they entered East 87 Wine Traders at 1693 2nd Avenue, showed a gun, and took $549 from the register.
