Surveillance Video Shows Woman Swiping UPS Packages From Strangers In Mapleton

Surveillance video recorded by a Mapleton homeowner shows a woman running to the door of his property and stealing a UPS package moments after the deliveryman pulled away, CBS News reports.

Filmed last Thursday, the video shows the UPS man leaving a package at the homeowner’s door. In a hurry to get to his next delivery, he scrambled back to his truck. Moments later, a white minivan that appears to have been following the truck pulls up to the house. A woman jumps out and casually grabs the package.

CBS reports:

Homeowner Norman Brodt said he was stunned by the brazen 5 p.m. crime.
“Hopefully, the right surveillance is going to get them,” he said.
Inside the box were women’s shoes, size 7 1/2, valued at $105.
“My wife wanted to use (the shoes) for a party for a wedding,” he said.
Brodt said he is also upset the UPS driver never rang the doorbell because he was home, he said, and there was no notice on the door saying to leave the package outside.

UPS officials say deliverymen are directed not to leave packages on a doorstep, and recommends that customers request packages be released only by signature. The company will reimburse Brodt for the package.
