Time to lace up those sneakers and head for Prospect Park, neighbors — the 8th annual Brooklyn PTA 5K is coming up on Saturday, May 9 at 10am.

Councilmembers Brad Lander and Carlos Menchaca, as well as other city legislators, are joining with Brooklyn schools’ PTAs to sponsor the yearly race/walk/stroll/toddle in Prospect Park. The fun event will kick off at the Bartel-Pritchard parking lot, located at the intersection of Prospect Park West and Prospect Park Southwest. Pre-race activities will begin at 8:30am.

Last year, hundreds of parents, teachers, and students from two dozen Brooklyn public schools participated in the event, raising more than $13,000 to support PTAs in our borough.

Participants pay a registration fee ($20 per individual, $5 for each additional family member up to 5) and can raise additional money through sponsors. Schools need at least 20 participants to receive proceeds from the fundraiser, so get out there and support one of our local schools!

If you, your school or your PTA are interested in participating, please contact vsell@council.nyc.gov or PTArunfortheschools@gmail.com.
