Super Bowl in Ditmas Park: Where to Get Big Sandwiches and Watch the Game

John's Superbowl Heros

Super Bowl XLVII airs this Sunday, February 3 at 6:30pm, which means now is the time to think about where you’re going to get a gigantic sandwich for your football (or commercials, or Puppy Bowl) watching party, or to decide where you’re going to go out and watch the big game. Here are some options in the neighborhood – if you know of any others, please note them in the comments!

Where to Get a Giant Sandwich

John’s Bakery, 1322 Cortelyou Rd, 718-287-6799
Italian or chicken sandwiches are available in 3-, 4-, 5-, or 6-foot lengths. Order a couple of days in advance, at least by Friday.

Catskill Bagels, 1416 Cortelyou Rd, 718-282-5049
They can do 3- and 6-foot versions of any of the sandwiches they offer. You need to place your order at least three days in advance, so get orders in by Thursday.

Meat Palace Supreme, 1811 Church Ave, 718-282-0700
They’re offering a special on 3-foot Italian or American-style subs, each for $59. Orders must be placed by Friday at 7pm.

Brancaccio’s Food Shop, 3011 Ft Hamilton Pkwy, 718-435-1997
A menu for $100 will serve 8-10 people and includes a 3-foot hero (choice of either meatball, chicken parm, or mozzarella caprese) plus a half-tray of either mac and cheese with bacon or pasta with pesto. Order in advance by Friday.

Where to Watch the Game

Sycamore, 1118 Cortelyou Rd, 347-240-5850
The bar will be screening the game, and will be serving up a “big ass plate” of smoked beef, pork, and chicken (plus sides) during halftime. Limited tickets available in advance at the bar or online.

Ox Cart Tavern, 1301 Newkirk Ave, 718-284-0005
They’ll be serving up their “evil ox wings,” which are just as spicy and delicious as they sound, plus they’ll have on special: a big bowl’a chili, Chicago-style hot dogs (chili dogs too), and loaded super nachos (chicken, chorizo, and steak). The sound will be on for the game too.

773 Lounge, 773 Coney Island Ave, 718-462-9746
They’re kicking off a new tap system just in time for the Super Bowl, where they’ll have 8 beers on tap, some of which will rotate each week. The game will be on a large projection screen as well as the 7 smaller ones around the bar, and they’ll have hot dogs, snacks, and finger foods starting at 1:30pm for pre-game festivities, plus a hot game-time buffet and cash bar.
