Sunset Park Weekend Events Spotlight: July 8-10

This weekend, enjoy some family fun at Green-Wood’s nature tour, take a dip in Sunset Park’s pool, get creative during arts and crafts at the Dedalus Foundation, or take a knitting class at the library, and remember to stay hydrated in the heat.

Knitting Class At Sunset Park Library

When: Friday, July 8, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Where: Sunset Park Library, 5108 4th Ave. at 51st St
What:  Yes, it’s scorching weather outside, but if you like knitting then stop by as a trained volunteer will help participants with their various projects.
How much: Free

Family Art Making Day At Dedalus Foundation

When: Saturday, July 9 – August 27, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Where: Dedalus Foundation at 254 36th St. Unit 2B-E.
What: These two-hour workshops are designed for children ages 4-8, and it gives them an opportunity to bond with their grown-ups through arts and crafts. Older siblings are welcome to participate as well.
How much: Free with registration.

Take A Dip At Sunset Park Pool

When:  Outdoor pool hours are from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Where: Seventh Avenue between 41st and 44th Streets
What: The pool is open to the public and make sure to bring sunscreen! Check here for the rules on what to bring, wear, and safety regulations before you go for a swim.
How much: Free

Dancing With Trees Walking Tour

When: Sunday, July 10, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Where: Green-Wood Cemetery
What: On this walking tour, hear from an expert Landscape Architect and Historian as they lead you through Green-Wood’s hills and dales, discussing the art of designing with nature.
How much: $15 for members of Green-Wood and BHS/$20 for non-members
