Sunset Park Events To Check Out This Week
Sasheer Zamata Outdoor Party Time At Industry City
When: Friday, July 22, from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM
What: Shaheer Zamata, a comedian, actress, writer, and current cast member on Saturday Night Live will host an outdoor party inviting fellow Sunset Parkers and Brookynites to the feast. Among other talent expected to attend are Jermaine Fowler from TruTV and MTV, comic Molly Austin, comic Yamaneika Saunders, and singer/songwriter Brittany Campbell. There will be plenty of food and booze. Doors open at 8 p.m., but the earlier you arrive the better. Tickets are $10 to $12 and are available here.

Summer Sports Experience at Sunset Park
When: Now until September 17
What: Children can enjoy nice summer days while playing sports such as soccer, basketball, rugby, volleyball, and softball. Park staff will provide introductions to various sports on a drop-in basis. The toddlers program, ages 2-5, runs Mon – Fri from 9:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Other activities for ages 6-14 will be offered Mon – Fri from 9:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.

Lincoln Center Comes To Sunset Park
When: Friday, July 29, at 6 p.m. (refreshments)
What: Bring your dancing shoes to a workshop starting at 7 p.m. to learn traditional dance steps and songs from Veracruz, Mexico, with company members and guest dancers from the Mazarte Mexican dance company. A performance by The Villalobos Brothers will follow at 8 p.m., as they mix their original music to celebrate the richness of Mexican folk music with the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music. Best of all, the event is free!
