Sunday: BIG Toy Drive And Celebrity Concert

Last year's concert (Photo by Clare)

The Bay Improvement Group is holding its 20th Annual Holiday Toy Drive and Celebrity Concert this Sunday, December 19.

The group is inviting all members of the community down to St. Mark Catholic School auditorium to contribute unwrapped new toys for needy kids throughout the area, and enjoy a free musical performance.

Enough toys were gathered last year to cheer up approximately 180 children in local shelters, and they’re looking to help out even more this year.

Vince Martell of Vanilla Fudge will be on hand, along with Peg Pearl and Greg Bravo, to bring some holiday merriment and sing some old-school hits.

When: December 19, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Where: St. Mark’s auditorium on Jerome Avenue and East 19th Street
Cost: Free, but please bring a new, unwrapped gift for the kids!

  1. I admit I’ve never really heard of the guy – or of Vanilla Fudge – but, hey, if he’s willing to come out for a good cause then I’ll clap as if I knew him. No need to be making fun of someone trying to do some good.

  2. This is a great opportunity to hear some music and contribute.
All the stores have toys on sale for a few dollars.
I have a still wrapped game that was a duplicate gift.
    Count me in.

  3. Thanks for posting Ned. We need all the help we can get as there are so many needy and deserving children that are touched by the generosity of our neighbors. Not only does the entertainment provide old-school hits, but they even do traditional Christmas Carols.

  4. Thanks Animo, anyone not knowing the Fudge should just check out & and educate themselves. In the meantime the cause to get toys into the hands of needy children from battered & abused homes, terminally ill and those with no home and no toys right here in southern Brooklyn, beginning with Sheepshead Bay is the whole idea! And we did that and the FREE concert was wonderful and should have been a line out the door! But we did well anyway for the kids and they did receive toys this holiday! That is whay we do it! Happy & Healthy to all! from your friends and BIG.

  5. is it possible to donate post Christmas? We kind of missed the bandwagon this year, but would still like to contribute.
