Sunday: Bernie Sanders Rally On Coney Island’s Riegelmann Boardwalk

Join Democratic presidential contender Senator Bernie Sanders at a rally on Coney Island’s Riegelmann Boardwalk tomorrow.

General admission entrance is located at Stillwell Avenue and the Boardwalk. Doors open at 11am.

Tickets are not required for this free event, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged. Admission is first come, first served. RSVP here.

For security reasons, guests are asked not to bring bags and to limit belongings to small, personal items like keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security. Attendees are strongly encouraged to take public transit to the event.

Coney Island is accessible by the Q, F, D, N subway lines. Limited parking is available for a fee.

  1. Damn. My son’s team has a college baseball game at MCU at noon. Traffic and access to the stadium is going to be a nightmare.

Follow up: except for the fact that they decided to open the MCU parking lot for paid parking yesterday (they were charging $18 to park when it’s usually free for college games), the Sanders event had almost no impact on the area. I drove straight through empty streets to the ballpark around 11:45. The parking lot was nearly empty. Street parking was easily available. Even when I stretched my legs between games by walking over to Stillwell, the streets were quiet. Even Nathan’s had no lines. I had heard there were long lines waiting for Bernie, but I never saw them, or any sign that they were about.

  3. Did BEAN cover this event? The last time a candidate for Pres went to Nathan’s was in 1972, his name was George McGovern.
