Subway Service Changes For Christmas Week

With Christmas on Wednesday, there aren’t many service changes to local lines aside from some holiday-related ones. So get your shopping done, catch a ride to visit your family, or just enjoy the relatively quiet system this week!

Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24
The New York City subway will operate on a regular weekday schedule. The Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, and Staten Island Railway will offer extra afternoon trains to help with early departure getaways from Manhattan.

Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25
New York City subways and buses and the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule (which means no B train). The LIRR and Metro-North will operate on a special holiday schedules as noted in timetables.

Thursday, December 26 and Friday, December 27
New York City subways will operate on a regular weekday schedule. The LIRR and Metro-North will operate on a weekday schedules. Metro-North will offer additional inbound service operated in the late morning, and slightly reduced AM peak service.

And as always, don’t forget about the regular N/R changes:

N trains run via the Q in both directions between Canal St and DeKalb Av
Late nights, all times until October 2014
R shuttle service operates between 95 and 36 Sts, Brooklyn.

No R trains between Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn
All times until October 2014
R service operates in two sections: Between 71 Av, Queens and Whitehall St, Manhattan; and between 95 St, Bay Ridge and Court St, downtown Brooklyn.
