Subway Map For Caffeine Addicts Says Cafe Madeline’s The Best Off Cortelyou Road, Then Stops

You may have seen the recent maps made by artist Nirmal Banerjee that match up every subway stop with the best coffee shop nearby–at least, for all of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn and Queens. A few of our local shops made the cut, neighbor Chrina pointed out to us, including Nine Chains and  Cafe Madeline.

We’re a little confused by the shops specified in our area. Nine Chains’ drip coffee is great, but it’s a whole lot more reasonable to walk from the Church Avenue B/Q than the F/G, where it’s tagged–and the map lists “Caton” as the best shop close to the Church B/Q instead. Are we missing something? Is there a cafe called Caton we’ve never heard of–or maybe it’s Caton Deli & Luncheonette?

Maybe it’s just that Banerjee doesn’t get out to this area very much–after all, Madeline and the Cortelyou Road station juuuuust manage to sneak into the map’s lower corner. But if you were to extend the map, would you name Madeline, Qathra, Catskill, Dunkin Donuts, Connecticut Muffin, John’s Bakery, or somewhere else the best off the Cortelyou stop? What about Newkirk and Avenue H? Church (since we’re not sure Caton exists)? And overall, what’s your favorite place to grab a cup in Ditmas Park?
