Update: Subway Service Has Resumed

stalled subway train at cortelyou

Earlier: A  train with mechanical problems at Prospect Park is holding neighbors up this afternoon. Neighbor Lina Corvus initially informed us of the problem, and now says northbound trains have been emptied.

An MTA agent at the Cortelyou station is now asking commuters to stop flooding the platform as she does not know when trains will be back up and running properly. “Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow,” she says.

Until then, if you’re planning to head out, be aware of these changes via

Southbound B trains are running on the Q line from Brighton Beach to Coney Island-Stillwell Av, then operate on the D line to DeKalb Av.

Northbound Q trains are running on the N line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to DeKalb Av.

Some Southbound Q trains are terminating at City Hall.

Allow additional travel time.

  1. Not sure if this is related to the above, but tonight, for the first time in MONTHS, I set foot on the downtown side of the Beverly Rd. Station. Like usual, I was going to get off at Church Ave, when the conductor said “Next stop, Beverly Road.” Amazed, I leapt back on, and sure enough, ended up at Beverly. From their, the conductor said “Next stop, Newkirk.” Does this mean that, at least, Beverly Road station has opened for downtown service?

  2. Yes, you’re right! Cortelyou and Parkside are still closed for now, but it looks like Beverley is back open–except for 9:45am-3pm today and tomorrow when it’s closed for, ugh, I don’t know. I’ll be posting about it.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess when the MTA says “We will keep you updated,” what they mean is, “We will keep you updated as soon as we get bored with playing in our bouncy castle.”
