Spend More Than 2 Minutes With Horses This Kentucky Derby Day

Sure, the Kentucky Derby is a fun reason to drink mint juleps while wearing fancy hats (anyone know of anyplace that’s having a party, or at least showing the race?). But why not get up close and personal with some neighbor horses this year?

Kensington Stables recently got three new horses and two new ponies in the barn, as they said goodbye to Butterscotch, Charm, and Florida, who retired to a farm in the country. Stop by the barn on Caton Place to meet the new horses, and maybe take a trail ride through Prospect Park or give the kids a pony ride. And bring a carrot or two for the horses, who will appreciate the snack!

They’re open 10am to sunset, so there’s plenty of time to meet the ponies before the ones in Kentucky post at about 6:24pm.
