South Slope Weekend Events Spotlight: March 20-23

From basketball and birds, to springtime crafts and getting “Shat-faced,” you don’t have to go far for fun this weekend. Check out some of our favorite events from around the neighborhood:

Looking For A Little March Madness?
When: All Games Thursday March 20-April 7
Where: Greenwood Park, 555 7th Avenue, between 19th and 20th Streets
What: March Madness is here, and if you’re looking to get together with a few friends to watch the game(s), Greenwood Park has you covered. Look for $4 pints, $15 pitchers, and .50 wings throughout the tourney.
How much: No cover.

March Madness (Take 2)
When: All Games Thursday March 20-April 7
Where: The Black Horse Pub, 568 5th Avenue at 16th Street
What: Would you rather watch the game on 5th Avenue? The Black Horse Pub will also have the televisions on, with $5 Goose Island IPA or Blue Point Toasted Lager, and $5 Bud/Bud Light and shot specials during all NCAA tournament games.
How much: No cover.

Explore and Create: Spring Crafts


When: Friday, March 21, 4pm to 5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Celebrate spring with arts and crafts at the Park Slope Library. The event is free, and open to all ages, so come out with the kids and get creative.
How much: Free

Introduction To Bird Watching
When: Saturday, March 22, 12pm to 1pm
Where: Prospect Park Audubon Center
What: Take advantage of the warmer weather, and explore some of the 250 species of birds that call Prospect Park home. The tour is led by The Brooklyn Bird Club.
How much: Free

Obsolete Cinema presents SHATSHOW II: The SHAT-ening!!!
When: Sunday, March 23, 2:30pm to 6:30pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Show some love to the captain himself, William Shatner, and raise a glass to Obsolete Cinema’s 3rd birthday at Freddy’s on Sunday. This month, it’s all about the 1970s classics Big Bad Mama and Kingdom of the Spiders.
How much: No cover.
