Don’t wait until this weekend for a little neighborhood fun! With everything from a “freak out trumpet and accordion duo” to the paradox of modern parenthood, South Slope is definitely the place to be through Wednesday.

Shape Up NYC: Couch To 5k
When: Monday, May 12, 7pm
Where: Meets in Prospect Park on the porch of Lefferts Historic House
What: Doesn’t this gorgeous Monday just make you want to lace up those sneakers, and make your fitness dreams a reality in Prospect Park? This weekly jog combines group running, walking, and conditioning exercises to get you in shape for long distance running.
How much: Free.

Ben Holmes and Patrick Farrell
When: Tuesday, May 13, 7pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues
What: It’s tough to go wrong with “New York City’s premier Klezmer/Folk/Spaghetti Western/Improv/Pop/Waltz/Balkan/Freak-Out trumpet and accordion duo,” so come spend a Tuesday evening with musicians Ben Holmes and Patrick Farrell at Barbes.
How much: $10 (strongly) suggested donation.

What: Calling all parents! Do you find yourself lost in a sea of strollers and play dates? Do your dreams involve Sophie the Giraffe riding a Mini Kick? You’re not alone. Join other neighborhood parents at the Park Slope Library Tuesday for a reading and discussion with author Jennifer Senior from her New York Times Bestselling Book, All Joy And No Fun: The Paradox of Modern Parenthood. The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.

Kings Bay Y Disco Time
When: Wednesday, May 14, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 6th Avenue, between 8th and 9th Street
What: Ready to party? Yoni the Puppet is bringing an interactive Hebrew story time and sing-a-long to the Park Slope Library. Expect lots of dancing, smiles, and laughter from your little Park Sloper! Recommended for kids ages 0-5.
How much: Free, but tickets (one per family) are required, so arrive early to secure to spot.

CasHank Hootenanny Jamboree
When: Wednesday, May 14, 9pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street
What: Ready for a down-home good time? In a special Wednesday night performance, host Alex Battles leads an acoustic country jam session over at Freddy’s. Bring your fiddles, banjoes, washboards, and spoons to join in on the fun!
How much: Free!
