South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: April 21-23

Don’t wait until this weekend for a little neighborhood fun! Here’s a few of the events that are taking place in our area through Wednesday:

Prospect Park Alliance Spring Break Programming
When: Monday, April 21 – Tuesday, April 22
Where: Prospect Park
What: Spring break is winding down, but there’s still fun to be found in Prospect Park. Explore birds with Blooming Naturalists at the Audubon Center from 12pm to 4pm, prepare some spring sprouts from 12pm to 4pm at Lefferts Historic House, and ride the carousel from 12pm to 5pm.
How much: Blooming Naturalists is free, Spring Sprouts has a $3 suggested donation, and carousel rides are $2 per ride.

Vision Zero Town Hall Meeting
When: Monday, April 21, 6pm
Where: PS 321 at 180 7th Avenue
What: If you’ve got questions or concerns about traffic calming measures in our neighborhood and around the city, you’ll have the opportunity to provide feedback and identify dangerous spots as representatives from city agencies will be on hand to provide an update on the Vision Zero Action Plan.

Life Choices: How To Create An Estate Plan That Protects Your Family
When: Tuesday, April 22, 6:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue and 9th Street
What: If you’ve wanted to create a will, but didn’t know where to start, join Friends of Park Slope Library for an interactive discussion with Brooklyn lawyers Brian Esser and Jonathan Latimer that will cover issues such as picking a guardian, creating a trust, and avoiding estate taxes.
How much: Free, but registration is appreciated.

Open Mic Night
When: Wednesday, April 23, 8:30pm-10:30pm
Where: The Monro Pub, 481 5th Avenue, between 11th and 12th Streets
What: Ready to show 5th Ave your vocal chops? Join the gang at The Monro Pub for their weekly open mic night.
How much: Free.

Kings Bay Y Disco Time
When: Wednesday, April 23, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 6th Avenue, between 8th and 9th Street
What: Ready to party? Yoni the Puppet is bringing an interactive Hebrew story time and sing-a-long to the Park Slope Library. Expect lots of dancing, smiles, and laughter from your little Park Sloper! Recommended for kids ages 0-5.
How much: Free.

Women’s Heart To Heart Lecture & Dinner
When: Wednesday, April 23, 6:30pm
Where: Montauk Club, 25 8th Avenue
What: Free cardiac health screenings including BMI, blood pressure, and carotid screening. Dinner will be served.
