Six Suspects Sought Following Gunfire On Parkside Avenue
The NYPD is searching for six suspects in connection with shots fired on Parkside Avenue last week.
The group of men allegedly approached their two victims, one 18-year-old man and another 31-year-old man, in front of a residential building on Parkside Avenue on Thursday, May 26 at 1:24am, according to the police report.
One suspect brandished a gun and fired multiple shots aimed at the victims, said the police. All shots missed their targets and no one was hurt.
It’s notable that this crime was categorized by the NYPD as an “attempted assault” instead of a shooting, because the NYPD can only record the crime as a shooting if a victim was hit by a bullet. Former police commissioner Raymond Kelly and others have criticized how current police commissioner William Bratton defines a shooting, claiming that it skews crime statistics and leads to underreported gun violence.
Video surveillance released by the NYPD shows the six suspects walking on the street. The suspected gunman is described as a black male, last seen wearing a light colored sweater and dark pants.
