Sinkhole on East 17th

A neighbor sent us this photo of a hole in the street at the intersection of East 17th Street and Newkirk Avenue, and says that it’s been this way for about two weeks.

We let Community Board 14 know about it, and they’ve sent the info and photo to the Department of  Transportation. So keep an eye on it, and let us know if and when it gets fixed.

  1. This hole has been there for at least 3 weeks now! They added the cone last week.
How come no one has cleaned up the dead squirrel on Newkirk Av between E18 &E19th? Has been there for over a week now!

  2. Ah, but fixing it would require someone to notice how many people run the stop sign there going 50 mph, and we can’t have that!

  3. I have to say, I am so tried of us Brooklynites being neglected when it comes to city services.  It is hard to have any faith in these folks taht run our city services.  It took about six months for the city to fix a street light that was not working properly.  It was truly a security/safety issue.  We all know that if any of this crap happens in Manhattan, it would be fixed promptly.  I have noticed that sink hole for quite sometime as well.  And let’s not talk about the trash being thrown around here.  It is ridiculous!!!  Although, that is really the fault of the littering population here.  Let’s occupy Ditmas Park – for real.
