A burglar went on a pre-Christmas shopping spree after swiping a wallet from an unlocked Sheepshead Bay apartment, police say.

The thief entered the home, located in a building near Ocean Avenue and Avenue W, in the middle of the night on December 14, according to authorities. The front door had been left unlocked, police say, and the thief swiped a wallet belonging to an 18-year-old man and used the credit card to make several unauthorized purchases.

Cops say the victim was not in the home at the time of the burglary.

The NYPD released surveillance photos of the suspect taken from an MTA surveillance camera at the Jay Street station in Brooklyn.

Authorities describe the suspect as a bearded, black or dark-skinned hispanic man, between 25 to 30 years old, between five feet, eight inches and six feet tall, and 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
