The family of the little girl he tried to kidnap has a lot to be thankful for this coming Thanksgiving.

Robert Drach, 39, of Sheepshead Bay, was allegedly walking to his friend’s house on June 11, 2015, at around 7am, when he saw a little girl playing in her front yard on Ford Street. He walked through the front gate, pulled out his genitalia, and tried to drag the 9-year-old girl out of the yard, according to Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

The girl’s father was inside and heard his daughter’s screams and cries for help, so he ran out and was able to detain Drach until police arrived, according to prosecutors.

“It is disturbing that this defendant attempted to kidnap a little girl who was playing outside her home in broad daylight,” said Gonzalez. “She was lucky to be saved by her quick-thinking father and we will now see that the predator who attacked her is held accountable.”

Drach claims the girl told him she was 18-years-old, and that her father wasn’t home. She allegedly invited him into the house, according to Drach, which doesn’t explain why he would drag her away from the house. He did admit to grabbing her, and exposing himself.

Drach was convicted yesterday of attempted kidnapping, public lewdness, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal trespass, according to the Acting DA. He faces 15 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on November 29.
