Senator Golden’s 2011 Concerts Starts Tonight


State Senator Marty Golden’s annual summer concert series kicks off tonight, with New York Exceptions rocking out to hits from the 1950s to 1970s in Bay Ridge.

Golden produces the series of 15 summer concerts and events throughout July and August in local parks throughout his district, and in conjunction with the Community Emergency Response Team and the South West Brooklyn Parks Task Force.

All concerts are free and begin at 7 p.m, except Family Day, which is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The August 7 concert begins at 4:00 p.m. In case of poor weather, cancellations will be posted on the concert hotline by 5:00 p.m., on the day of the concert, at (718) 236-7547 or Senator Golden’s office at (718) 238-6044. All events are subject to change.

  2. haha, i see your point. But i like them. Last saw them at Tamaqua a few years ago, they were really good. on the other hand, friends of mine had them at their wedding about 10 years ago and they really sucked there.

I think everyone in Sheepshead Bay had the “lead singer” at their kids weddings.  Someone I know just recently had him – for a mere $10K for the pleasure of his company.  I don’t know why or how they are still around.  Their one hit was back in the 70’s – and let’s face it, tighter and tighter wasn’t that great a song – far from it.

  4. The mere fact that people had to be reminded of their “hit song” says too much about this band’s lack of “Wow”. But if they’re local they still have a following.

  5. Generation Gap is a great group. They play all the hits from every decade. Marge Raymond the girl singer is really great. She was signed to RCA and is on alot of hit albums and been on Broadway. Ive seen them play a few times at the Staten Island Hilton and my friend had them at their wedding. Dont miss them.
